What is Bontril ® ?

Generic Name: PHENDIMETRAZINE TARTRATE

Action:  Appetite suppressant

Side Effects :  Stimulates central nervous system.  Can cause nervousness, dizziness, and agitation.  Can cause elevated blood pressure. Can develop tolerance to this medication.  This would mean a person would need to take more to achieve the same appetite suppression, but would also mean continued chance for elevated blood pressure. Can also cause impotence and alterations in sex drive.

Drug Interactions : Not good to mix with alcohol.

Pregnancy : No established studies. Not recognized as safe in pregnancy.
